This month's Colbar monthly lunch will take place on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 12h00 at John Martin's (Miracle Mile, Coral Gables). The Agenda will be laden with fascinating items that will be publicized later (suspense drives our members to unheard of efforts including attendance at the lunch). We assume all those reading this will be in good health and sufficiently famished to appreciate the quality and quantity of John Martin's famous dishes (all Irishmen are at the same time (or were) Colombian if we go back far enough in time). See everyone there (true vacations only begin in August, so no excuse there). Statistically: true lawyers never "take" vacations as they love their profession and consider themselves always "on" vacation (you may quote us on this, it is neither trademarked nor copyrighted!).

2006 - 02 - MONTHLY MEETING - FEBRUARY 2006 | Colbar is lucky enough to have been able to arrange a talk by attorney Harry Payton who will chat with us about the system of Board Certification.
Sooner or later you will ask yourself why you are not certified (or if certified, why you are!). This is the ineluctable occasion to ask that which you always wanted to know about this subject but never dared do so.
Also:
This is the time to pay your $50.00 dues (unless you are a student - of something involving law, French language classes do not count - in which case you negotiate with Maria Teresa Sallato, Treasurer).
Finally: On March 16, 2006 we have invited Judge Figueroa to speak to us about domestic violence (not a how-to session - and I realize this is never a laughing matter, but I couldn't resist). Please mark your calendar, save the date, etc.
Finally 2: We would ask you to proselytize (I checked the spelling) and bring in new members. These are proud moments for the Colombian-American community: last Friday the first Colombian-born attorney to be appointed judge was robed in the presence of some Colbar members and the Honorable Consul General of Colombia in Miami, Carmenza Jaramillo: her name: Catalina Avalos, now Judge Avalos of the Broward County court. Her daughter (11 years) introduced her mother, the Judge, with an aplomb far beyond her years (if you have male children of about that age...!), the best speech given that memorable afternoon, with the exception of that of her mother. In any event, this year is promising!
